What are Lead Accounts?

Lead Accounts are a new type of account created to mark accounts as prospective (potential) clients. These accounts belong to a special category that cannot be assigned any Invoices/Jobs.

How to create Lead Accounts?

Once your user has been given the Lead Account Creation Permission by the System Administrator, Click on the Accounts Tab from the Left Nav

The Plus Button on the bottom left corner, should be enabled now. Click on it to create a new lead type account

It should pull up a form like follows, enter all the required details seen on Basic Setup tab and Contact tab as shown below and click on Save to save the account details.

This account can now be used by Account Managers to Log their Calls into.

When this account is ready to be converted to a real account and to be assigned jobs, the system administrators will have to be notified. Once they change the account type of this account from Lead to the desired Account Type, and update it's settings, it will be treated as a regular account which can be assigned jobs.

How to enable Lead Account creation?

Lead Account creation is restricted by a special permission("Create Lead Accounts") that is tied to user roles. This means:

  1. Only users with the specific permission can create Lead Accounts.

  2. System Administrators have control over this permission.

  3. Permissions are assigned by updating role settings.

In the Left Nav, under the Admin Tab, find the Security Role option as shown below:

Click on the Role, you would like to edit,

Under the Advanced tab, you should be able to find the new permission "Create Lead Accounts" for this. Toggle it on to give permissions to users belonging to this role.

Once you click on save, this should allow the users having this role to create Lead type Accounts.
