How to add percentage-based coupons with effective and expiration dates within Omega EDI

Coupons are configured similar to Items within Omega.

Start by selecting "Coupons" under "Admin" on the navigation panel on the left.

From there, you can add a new coupon. A coupon consists of a promo code (SKU), description, and a discount. The discount can be added as either a flat amount ($25 off) or as a percent discount (25% off).

Optionally, you can add additional conditions that restrict when your coupon can be used. All conditions (discount included) are applied at the time they are entered into the job. This means that if a part is added to a job after the coupon, the coupon will not be applied to that part.

The Applicable Cost Type condition allows you to restrict the scope of what type of items the coupon can be applied to. The default is "All", meaning any discount will be applied to freight, labor, and part items.

The Effective Date and Expiration Date fields allow you to specify a date range of when the coupon can be used. This is useful in cases where you want a coupon to only apply for the week of a holiday, for example. The coupon will not be useable until the start of the Effective Date, and will no longer be useable after the end of the Expiration Date.

The Minimum Purchase Amount field allows you to specify the minimum amount a customer must spend on a job in order for the coupon to be applied. A $200 Minimum Purchase Amount means the job total must be at least $200 (before tax) in order to qualify for the discount on the coupon.

The Maximum Discount field allows you to specify the maximum amount the coupon's discount will cover. For example, a 25% Off coupon with a $50 Maximum Discount will only take $50 off the job total, even if the job total is over $200.

The Can Use With Other Coupons field prevents the coupon from being used if another coupon has already been applied on a job, and prevent additional coupons from being added to a job after it has been applied.

Once you've saved a coupon, your technicians will be able to add the coupon to their jobs via the ADD COUPON button (assuming any Advanced conditions for the coupon are met). Please keep in mind that coupons are applied to whatever the job total was at the time the coupon was added. Changing the order of the items/coupons will not change the discount the coupon applies. Coupons will need to be re-added in order for the discount to be reapplied.

Once a coupon as been added, it will show up as an item in the Invoice Items list with the appropriate amount discounted from the total.
